An experiment was done in downtown Manhattan to find out people’s biggest regrets.
It turns out that most peoples’ regrets were things they didn’t do, not risks they’ve taken or mistakes they’ve made.
People underestimate their resilience after trying things that don’t work out. Not everything is going to go as planned, but the upside potential should be enough to pursue your dreams.
Start that business. Write that book. Upload your song on YouTube. Life is too short to not give your dreams a shot. Worst case, you’re back where you started, but with a lot more experience and a lot less regret. That’s not a bad worst case scenario.
Practical advice:
Write down a dream of yours you have not yet pursued. Next, write down how your life would change if your dream doesn’t work out. Finally, write down how your life would change if everything went better than planned.
Chances are there’s high upside and minimal downside to giving it a shot. You should take that bet every. single. time.
After all, Justin Bieber was discovered by Usher’s business partner because his mom uploaded his music to YouTube.
