Famous podcaster and life coach Jay Shetty went on the Prof G Podcast with Scott Galloway and discussed an interesting concept that applies to people who reach the top 1% in their respective field.
He says that the closer you get to becoming in the top 1% of any field, the more likely it is that 50% of people will disagree with you.
Take a look at US Presidents. It’s arguably the most prestigious job in the world, yet at any given time, the sitting President is usually opposed by at least half the country.
On a more relatable level, this concept applies to leaders within a company and thought leaders in the medical profession as well.
The higher up you go, the harder it becomes to be a people pleaser. There will be crossroads where you’ll have to take a stance that won’t resonate with everyone.
At a certain point, you have to realize that it’s not personal. It’s just math on a societal level.
